The Legacy Continues

1967: Aerospace Machinist Edwin Lea bought a one-man manufacturing operation in Burbank CA, and the Ed Lea Co. (Elco) was born. As Ed's attention to quality and service brought an increase in demand, machines were added and Ed's son Carl Lea joined the business.

1980: Ed and Carl moved Elco to our current home in San Luis Obispo, CA.

1983: Shortly after the move, John Boitel was hired and groomed to Ed and Carl's exacting level of quality and customer service.

1994:  John's wife Beverly joined the team as Office Manager and Administrator.

1997: John and Beverly complete the purchase of Elco Machine from Carl Lea.

2012: The legacy continued

as Matt Marcum was brought on and worked his way up to be our General Manager.

The Elco Trident

Efficiently meeting the needs of our clients involves agility and vigilant attention to detail in every step of the manufacturing process.

Our team at Elco is constantly reviewing our processes, from initial contact through packaging and delivery of the finished product, to ensure that our core value of Quality, flanked by Safety and Production, flows through everything we do. Our goal is to meet the precise needs  of each individual  application and client.

The Elco Team views every process through the lens of the Elco Trident:

Elco Trident
A Lifetime of Experience

Carl Lea was recently visiting the shop and made a wise observation; when we asked how he had learned that particular nugget of manufacturing wisdom, he replied "through a lifetime of experience."

Elco Machine has been crafting precision production parts for over 55 years. Throughout this time we have evolved and thrived by embracing the latest technology and applying it with the wisdom and practical sense gained by a lifetime of experience.

Elco began with old-school manual machining and we have built on that foundation with computer simulations, CNC machine tools and the latest advances in cutting tool technology. A lifetime of experience has taught us that we never stop learning, and the importance of leveraging our ever-increasing knowledge to the benefit of everyone we serve.

Our heritage of attention to detail and meeting the needs of those we serve is the foundation that supports everything we do today at Elco Machine Company.

Let us put our passion and experience to work for you.
